The installation quality of bearing tracks (linear guides) directly determines the operational accuracy, stability, and lifespan of the equipment. Incorrect installation can lead to premature wear, vibration, and loss of accuracy. The following are the core steps and key points of installation.

1、 Preparation before installation
Cleaning work: This is a crucial step. Be sure to thoroughly clean all components of the installation machinery, including the base surface, screw holes, and bearing tracks. Any tiny dust, chips, or dirt can cause unevenness on the installation surface of the track, thereby affecting accuracy. Use lint free fabric and high-purity industrial alcohol or cleaning agents.
Check the components: Carefully inspect the track and slider for any bumps, scratches, or rust caused during transportation. Confirm that the specifications and quantities of all installation screws are correct.
Preparation tools: Prepare the necessary tools, including a torque wrench (crucial), dial gauge (micrometer), marble platform or precision level, installation screws, and necessary assembly platform.
2、 Core installation steps
Preliminary positioning: Gently place the track on the mechanical base and align it with the installation reference surface (usually a precision machined fixed side). Pre tighten all installation screws by hand to ensure that the track is in contact with the base surface.
Tighten screws: Use a torque wrench to tighten the screws in specific steps according to the recommended torque of the screws. The correct sequence is to start from the middle of the track and then extend alternately towards both ends. This can effectively flatten the track and avoid warping caused by internal stress.
Set reference rail and driven rail:
Reference rail installation: For systems that require the installation of two or more rails, first use one of them as the reference rail. Use a dial gauge to carefully calibrate the straightness of this track in both horizontal and vertical planes, ensuring that it is completely straight. After calibration, tighten it completely.
Passive rail installation: Install the slider onto the reference rail, and then use a precision connecting fixture or a known flat reference block to mount it between the two sliders. Gently place the second track (driven track) on top and pre tighten the screws. At this point, adjust the position of the driven rail by moving the slider group to keep it parallel to the reference rail. Similarly, use a dial gauge to monitor parallelism. After confirming its accuracy, tighten the screws of the driven rail in the order from the middle to both ends.
Installation workbench: After all tracks have been installed and calibrated, clean the installation surface at the top of the slider, and then gently place the workbench or slider onto it. Similarly, tighten the connecting screws between the workbench and the slider in stages from the middle to both ends.
3、 Inspection after installation
Run test: Gently push the workbench with your hand to feel if its movement is smooth, steady, and without any obstruction. The resistance should be felt evenly throughout the entire journey.
Accuracy verification: Use a dial gauge to recheck the key accuracy indicators such as parallelism and straightness of the workbench during movement to ensure that they meet the design requirements.
Key precautions
Direct tapping is strictly prohibited: It is forbidden to use hammers or other tools to directly tap any part of the bearing track (track, slider, ball circulation end cover). If adjustment is required, gently tap the side of the track with a plastic or copper soft hammer, or use a specialized adjustment tool.
Rust prevention treatment: During installation, hand sweat may cause rust. It is recommended to wear gloves for operation. After installation, appropriate rust proof oil or lubricant can be applied as needed.
Lubrication: Before formal operation, it is necessary to inject the designated type of grease or lubricating oil into the slider according to the manufacturer's requirements.
Summary: The installation of bearing tracks is a delicate process, with the core of "cleaning", "sequential tightening", and "precise calibration". Patience and meticulousness are the guarantees of successful installation, ensuring that your device performs at its best in future work.
